Apple iPad Pro 11 2021

Apple iPad Pro 11 (2021)  Manual or Apple iPad Pro (11-inch, 3rd generation) User Guide - The new iPad Pro works on all cylinders. Launched at a spring conference on Tuesday, Apple's touchscreen tablet embeds a powerful M1 chip as well as a 5G connection. And to top it all, the biggest models now use mini LED screens.

Apple has unveiled the 2021 version of its touchscreen tablet. And, if it doesn't change fundamentally in form, inside, this is a kind of revolution.

After MacBooks, Mac mini, and now iMac, iPad Pro is now also eligible to ship M1 chips designed by Apple. Designed on the same basis as the A14 chip on iPhone 12, it delivers more power to the device, which remains available with 11 and 12.9-inch displays.

The 8-core chip promises performance up to 40% faster than previous generations. Enough to fulfil Apple's ambition of making the iPad Pro a replacement for personal computers. Thus Apple ensures that iPad Pro will offer more smoothness in navigation and multitasking management.

To complement its skills and harness its power, iPad Pro now relies on Thunderbolt 4-compatible USB-C ports, to bring greater speed and versatility to devices. Thunderbolt will support Ethernet speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s, specifically enabling 6K display connections such as home Pro Display XDR (but via docking stations).

But in terms of design, there are some differences to note. The front-facing TrueDepth camera is significantly improved with a 12 MP ultra wide-angle sensor (not the old classic wide-angle). This is enhanced with a Center Stage function that ensures the user is always in the center well during a video call. Face ID facial recognition is always there to unlock your device.

But the main change in design concerns the screen. And this is where both iPad Pro will experience their first real difference. The 11-inch model includes a Liquid Retina display as before, while the large 12.9-inch model will now use a Liquid Retina Display display consisting of more than 10,000 mini LEDs. Without OLED, this will promise a very black color and stronger contrast, but most importantly a wider color range (up to 1000 nits full screen brightness and up to 1600 nits at its peak). Something to satisfy professionals in photo editing, video editing, or even for augmented reality. Because the device also supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG. And for sound still required compatibility with Dolby Atmos.

IPad Pro still relies on four speakers distributed on each side as well as a studio-quality microphone. On the back, we still found a camera module consisting of a wide-angle sensor, an ultra wide angle, and a LiDAR scanner for depth and distance detection. The camera will, like the iPhone, be able to rely on Smart HDR3 to improve the rendering of its shots, even if taking photos with the iPad remains a difficult activity.

Both iPad Pro will offer 6 and 5G Wi-Fi connectivity. Storage has taken it a step further and promises to be twice as fast. iPad Pro now offers versions in 128 GB, 256 and 512 GB with 8 GB of RAM. Configurations with 1 or 2 TB of storage will run with 16 GB of RAM.

Good news for gamers: iPad Pro supports PS5 DualSense controllers and Xbox Series X/S Xbox Controllers, to better enjoy Apple Arcade.

Both touch pads can be pre-ordered from April 30 for availability in mid-May. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at 899 euros while it will cost 1219 euros for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. And if you're tempted by the large storage capacity, be aware that models with 2 TB will cost 2,429 euros for Wi-Fi and 2,599 euros for the 5G version.
