Insta360 One X2 Manual - After launching Insta360 One X last year, Insta is back on with an update that adds some new features. We're talking about the Insta360 One X2, a compact camera capable of recording in 360 degrees thanks to a dual lens and whose maximum resolution reaches 5.7K to 30 frames per second.
The device stands out for installing a six-axis gyroscope used by the company to stabilize video even at the highest resolution. It also incorporates a home screen so the user can see what he or she is recording at any time. Insta360 One X2 retains the form factor of the Insta360 One X, but adds a color touchscreen that allows us to see what the camera is recording. Speaking of recording, the camera attaches a lens with a focal length of 7.2mm and an aperture of f/2.0. The sensor is capable of recording in 5.7K resolution at 30 frames per second when we use 360 mode and up to 2K at 50 FPS when we use wide-angle mode. It also serves as a photo camera with a resolution of 6,080 x 3,040 pixels in 360 mode and 4,320 x 1,440 pixels in panoramic mode.
The camera has four recording modes: 360, Steady Cam, InstaPano, and MultiView. With the first camera, the camera records in all directions so that users can then choose the angle they like in the app. Steady Cam mode uses only the rear lens (wide angle) and claims to be able to capture "super stable footage". InstaPano creates panoramas using two lenses and MultiView displays two angles with different areas of view at the same time.
Stabilization in 360 and Steady Cam modes is delivered to FlowState, an algorithm-based system and horizon alignment, which has improved from previous generations. Another cool feature with subject tracking (humans, animals, and moving objects), which uses artificial intelligence to keep the subject in the middle; and Auto Frames, which "browse every second of your 360 recordings and change your photo frame to find highlights".
More modes in the camera are TimeShift, a function similar to hyperlase that lets you adjust the playback speed while reframe the shot; PureShot, a kind of night mode; and AquaVision, which automatically balances colors when shooting underwater. The camera also integrates with apps like Zoom, Facebook or YouTube, so it can be used as a webcam and/or for streaming.
In terms of sound, it combines four microphones that record in stereo that have wind reduction algorithms and are capable of recording in ambisonic mode (i.e., 360 sounds). You can also control the camera with sound. Regarding autonomy, the Insta360 One X2 installs a 1,630 mAh battery that allows recording up to 80 minutes in maximum resolution, according to the company.
