Leica Q2 Monochrom User Manual / Guide PDF
Leica Q2 Monochrom Manual - In the photography industry, it's possible that Leica could create a black-and-white camera for tens of millions of dollars. In fact, Leica has not shown any signs of stopping despite having undergone such an absurd trend since 2012.
The German manufacturer recently introduced the Leica Q2 Monochrom, a mirrorless camera with a full-frame sensor capable of shooting only black-and-white images. If his name sounds familiar, it's because you've heard of Leica Q2, his sibling who packs 'normal' sensors, which have been present since March 2019.

Which may be the question, why should there be a camera with monochromatic sensors? Why not shoot using a standard Leica Q2, then tether a black-and-white filter to the photo? Well, the end result will be different, because Leica Q2 Monochrom's black-and-white sensor is capable of absorbing more light even though the resolution is exactly the same at 47.3 megapixels.
According to Leica, the Q2 Monochrom sensor has a dynamic range 2 stops higher than that of a standard Q2 (13 EV versus 11 EV). The maximum ISO level has also been increased to 100,000, and overall Q2 Monochrom is able to capture images with a better level of sharpness thanks to the absence of color filters on the sensor.
Next question, what is the difference between Leica Q2 Monochrom and Leica M10 Monochrom? Both can only capture black-and-white images, but Q2 Monochrom doesn't make it into the rangefinder category, meaning users can rely entirely on the autofocus system, which happens to also have very rushing performance. The M10 Monochrom also cannot be used to record video, while Q2 Monochrom supports recording in a maximum resolution of 4K 30 fps, of course in black-and-white view.
The rest, the Leica Q2 Monochrom is pretty identical to the standard version. It is also equipped with a fixed 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens like its brother, and users can still take advantage of crop mode with three focal length options: 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm. The 3-inch touchscreen that dominates its rear panel is exactly the same, as is the electronic viewfinder with a 3.68 million dot OLED panel on it.
The single most striking physical difference is the loss of the Leica red logo on the Q2 Monochrom body. The appearance is even more stealthy with no yellow or red accents at all. Beyond that, the frame used remains made of magnesium material, as well as splash and dust resistant with IP52 certification.
For the price, Leica released the Q2 Monochrom to market with an official banderol of $5,995, or $1,000 more expensive than the standard Q2 price.
